“What appears to be a spontaneous snapshot is the result of hard work and inexhaustible energy.” F.C.Gundlach
Esther Haase, one of Germany's most renowned fashion photographers, was born in Bremen in 1966. Since her early childhood, she has been inspired by animals, costumes, adventure, travel, and the circus. This fantasy world has become the setting for her fashion photographs - a stage on which the models move, in the truest sense of the word: performing rotations, dances, and gestures that form a choreography reflecting Haase's passion for movement. She first developed this passion in her early years through ice skating and later through classical dance training.
Esther has been photographing Parisian haute couture for the French magazine Madame Figaro, among other fashion magazines, for over two decades. For her haute couture shots she creates settings using colours, textures, structures and different materials, as well as precisely selected props. These settings are enveloped in the unique, nuanced colourfulness that is characteristic of her work.
From Parisian haute couture to more recently photographed fashion editorials in Mongolia and China, Esther's work always bears her own distinctive style, characterized by motion blur, subtle color shading, theatrical staging, and precise composition.
Always in motion herself, movement lies at the heart of her work.
